SAED-SARL

Services

Our engineers, technicians and associate experts work in nine fields. In each one we support the client through the whole project cycle: preliminary studies, procurement, then works supervision and acceptance.

What we do

Nine fields, from civil works to training. In each one we design the infrastructure, then check that it is built as designed.

  1. Civil works: roads and buildings

We design road links and buildings, then supervise their construction.

    • Preliminary and detailed design of road links, including the Bamako outer ring road
    • Supervision of road construction and paving, including dual carriageways
    • Road construction drawings
    • Classrooms, community health centres and social housing
    • Office buildings and bank branches, as subcontractor to the architectural practice la GUEPE
  2. Land-use planning

We plan the development of whole areas where several kinds of infrastructure have to fit together.

    • Development master plans, for example over 20,000 ha in the Pekadouzou area
    • Development studies for agro-pastoral plains
    • Integrated rural development projects: lowlands, farming zones and related works
  3. Urban and industrial water engineering

Water supply, sanitation and drainage in towns: we prepare the studies and supervise the works.

    • Detailed design for water supply and sanitation
    • Stormwater and wastewater drainage for social housing sites
    • Drainage structures for urban streets, notably in Commune II of Bamako
  4. Village and pastoral water supply

Boreholes, wells, piped water and ponds: we site the works, prepare the documents and supervise the contractors.

    • Geophysical siting of boreholes and supervision of drilling, with hand pumps
    • Village wells, pastoral wells, cistern wells and modern wells
    • Multi-village piped water systems and simplified schemes, some of them solar-powered
    • Construction of pastoral ponds
  5. Irrigation and lowland development

Lowlands, floodplains, irrigated schemes and dams: we carry out the studies, then supervise the works.

    • Feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and bidding documents for lowlands and plains
    • Village irrigated schemes and market-garden schemes, including pumping stations
    • Controlled-flooding and full water control schemes
    • Agro-silvo-pastoral and fisheries schemes, fish-farming facilities
    • Dams and small dams: design updates, construction supervision, rehabilitation
    • Pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for small hydropower plants
  6. Rural infrastructure

Rural roads, river crossings, livestock and storage buildings: we design them and supervise their construction.

    • Preliminary and detailed design and bidding documents for rural road networks
    • Bridges, drifts and drainage structures
    • Supervision of road opening, rehabilitation, spot improvement and routine mechanised maintenance
    • Marking of livestock routes
    • Slaughter slabs, small dairies and livestock markets
    • Storage warehouses and processing buildings
  7. Urban development

Streets, site servicing and social housing: we design urban schemes and supervise their construction.

    • Servicing of social housing sites: streets and drainage
    • Urban streets and urban sections of trunk roads
    • Sanitation and paving of streets in Bamako
    • Supervision of social housing construction
  8. Training and awareness-raising for rural communities

We raise awareness and train rural communities, and we support the people who will use the infrastructure.

    • Awareness-raising and training for local communities
    • Social intermediation in water supply and sanitation projects
    • Accompanying measures for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects
    • Support for beneficiaries of socio-economic infrastructure
    • Community mobilisation around fish-farming schemes
  9. Training in new technologies

We train people in the software our engineers use for road design and land-use planning.

    • Micro-Piste training
    • AutoCAD training

Sheet 02 · How we work

How we work

We follow a project through its whole cycle, in three stages, from the first studies to the evaluation of its impacts.

  1. PK 0+000

    Preliminary engineering studies

    • Feasibility studies, diagnostic studies and master plans
    • Preliminary and detailed design
    • Capital and operating cost estimates
    • Environmental and social impact assessments
    • Awareness-raising and training for local communities
  2. PK 1+000

    Procurement support

    • Specifications and bidding documents
    • Consultation of contractors
    • Technical and financial finalisation of works contracts
  3. PK 2+000

    Works supervision and acceptance

    • Works management and supervision
    • Project planning, scheduling and control
    • Site organisation and management
    • Performance checks and preparation of acceptance
    • Ex post impact evaluation

Sheet 03 · Environmental and social impact assessment

Environmental and social impact assessment

We assess how a scheme affects the environment and local people: before the works, as part of the preliminary studies, and again once it is in use.

  • Environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) for development sub-projects
  • ESIAs for market infrastructure and for an agro-industrial park
  • Environmental and socio-economic components of engineering studies
  • Ex post impact evaluation
